TITLE:                        Adjunct Instructor (Entrepreneurship)         

HOURS:                    Part-Time - 24 hours per course

MAJOR FUNCTIONS: Tallahassee Community College is seeking a part-time educator position as an Adjunct Instructor, responsible for teaching courses in Business / Entrepreneurship based on their area of expertise and academic qualifications. This role involves developing and delivering course content, including lectures, assignments, and assessments, to facilitate student learning in line with the college's academic standards and objectives. The position requires a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that accommodates students from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of academic preparation. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and Teach Courses: Develop syllabi, prepare lectures and presentations, and deliver course content in a clear and engaging manner. Utilize various teaching methodologies to accommodate different learning styles. 
  • Assess Student Performance: Create and grade assignments, projects, and exams to evaluate student understanding and provide timely feedback to support their academic growth. 
  • Office Hours and Student Support: Offer regular office hours and additional support as needed to address student questions, provide guidance, and foster a positive learning experience. 
  • Curriculum Development: Participate in curriculum review and development processes to ensure course relevance and alignment with current industry or disciplinary standards. 
  • Professional Development: Stay abreast of developments in the field and incorporate relevant advancements and best practices into teaching strategies. 
  • Community Engagement: Engage with the broader college community, potentially participating in department meetings, committees, and student mentoring programs. 
  • Classes may be scheduled during the day, evening, or weekends, providing flexibility but also requiring adaptability from the instructor. 

 

MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Management, Marketing, or other related fields. Degree must be from an accredited educational institution, and two years of occupational experience. Prior teaching experience, especially in a community college setting, is preferred. Professional experience in the relevant field can be advantageous.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to work independently. Working knowledge of Windows operating system, MS Office, and related desktop applications; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to perform time-sensitive and complex tasks; skill in using a computer, keyboard, and mouse for extended periods of time
