Scope of Position

EDF Renewables North America is a market-leading independent power producer and service provider with over 35 years of experience. We deliver grid-scale power: wind (onshore and offshore), solar photovoltaic, and storage projects; distribution-scale power: solar and storage; asset optimization: technical, operational, and commercial expertise to maximize the performance of generating projects, and onsite solutions, through the Company's PowerFlex affiliate, offering a full suite of onsite energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers: solar, storage, EV charging, energy management systems, and microgrids.

Originate renewable energy project opportunities in the WECC region. Manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously, and comfortable interfacing and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including our in-house engineering, implementation & valuation team, facility and landowners, utility officials, and other strategic partners. Responsibilities extend across all phases of Company Business Development including lead generation, customer relationship management, market-specific strategy and analysis, direct marketing, business development campaign plan creation and execution, and proposal development and management.

Responsibilities
    Business Development Execution - Directly originate renewable energy project opportunities in the WECC region including executing business development campaigns in targeted market segments, implementing contact plans with customers and partners, developing and drafting project proposals, interfacing with multiple stakeholders to analyze available data and to structure and propose solutions.
  • Customer Identification and Development - Contribute to creation of, and implement, origination plans in targeted region(s) and market(s), identify, filter, engage, and cultivate customer contacts in support of origination strategy and sales campaigns. Identify potential partnering opportunities.
  • Market Research and Development - Develop in-depth knowledge of, and become expert in, target regions and markets, including and regulatory incentives, verticals, and co-development opportunities; Identify and implement marketing initiatives and personal/professional outreach in the storage markets, including developing origination materials, presenting to industry and customer constituencies, and identifying key marketing strategies and competitive differentiators.
  • Reporting and Pricing - Track, update, coordinate, and origination opportunities directly and with team; submit and manage project pricing requests and approval processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision of Others: Supervision of junior business development team members; interaction with other professionals within the Company to support business development efforts.

Working Conditions: Approximately 75% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe, Teams, etc.), telephones, and general office equipment. Approximately 25% of the time is spent interacting with customers and consultants onsite. Fulfills all delegated tasks many of which may be loosely associated with the primary assignment of the job description.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree in related field preferred: business, marketing, environmental, or technical degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience with 5 of those years in renewable energy business development or comparable business development or sales experience
  • Prior renewable energy industry experience, particularly solar or solar + storage, preferred

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Interpersonal skills, diplomacy, win-win mindset, and effective strategic relationship builder with both internal/external project stakeholders
  • Experience in opportunity identification; demonstrated success in prospecting, identifying, and qualifying new business opportunities.
  • Knowledge and strong network of contacts within WECC
  • Experience in capture planning and in successfully building customer capture plans and strategies.
  • Experience in building relationships; ability to develop customer relationships through existing contacts and relationships; build relationships quickly.
  • Experience in managing sales and managing business development tasks and methods; and facilitating customer and internal decision-making processes
  • Proven track record of effective communications with project stakeholders, including energy customers, government officials, utility representatives, and community members
  • Basic legal knowledge, including NDAs and PPAs agreements
  • Basic technical understanding of renewable technologies
  • Time management skills with the ability to manage multiple and fast changing priorities
  • Analytical skills - understand the economic, technological, and permitting issues of a project
  • High energy, and ability to work well in a team environment with proven attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel upon request.
  • Willingness to embrace and defend a culture of respect, communication, and accountability to thrive in a highly dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in analyzing large and complex data sets and an understanding of the ever-changing energy policy and regulatory environment.
  • Strong reasoning and communication skills, both oral and written.

Physical Requirements: Walking project site visits with varying terrain and weather conditions.

This role's annual base salary range is between $130,000 and $216,500.
