Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide classroom instruction for a full range of courses in accounting. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the following areas, but not limited to: Accounting I through IV, Payroll Systems, Income Tax, Accounting Fundamentals, Business Accounting and Business Financial Management and will include content knowledge of accounting-related software. This individual will be teaching accounting courses to both accounting students and non-accounting students.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

Other duties include, but are not limited to, curriculum development and evaluation, committee assignments, student recruitment, and program marketing. This position requires strong organizational skills, communication skills and the ability to effectively deliver practical hands-on instruction. Must be accessible to students and maintain positive relationships with industry-related organizations and businesses. Must be willing to teach traditional, accelerated and hybrid courses within online, daytime and evening hours as required.


  • Develop and maintain course curriculum. Align curriculum to departmental, state, and/or other applicable standards and outcomes.
  • Plan, deliver and facilitate student learning, including providing ongoing quality feedback to students.
  • Assess student attainment of learning outcomes and critical life skills (both formative and summative), at the course, program, and college level.
  • Collect, report, analyze, and use data to support continuous improvement at the course, program and college level.
  • Use technology to facilitate student learning, college processes, and personal productivity.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate as a productive member of a team.
  • Maintain college learning resources and equipment.
  • Participate in recruitment and retention activities.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development, maintain occupational competency, and ensure knowledge of current laws and regulations related to the profession(s) in which instruction is provided.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


1. Ability to deliver instruction using active learning methods which accommodate different learning styles including online modalities.
2. Ability to plan, select, prepare and implement appropriate active learning activities to meet all course competencies.
3. Ability to develop, utilize and/or update course competencies and summaries.
4. Good oral/written communication skills.
5. Ability to maintain competency in the occupational field.
6. Demonstrated ability and experience working with diverse populations.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with other colleagues and staff.
8. Working knowledge of computer concepts and incorporation of technology in the learning environment.


Education and Experience Requirements:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related Business field.
2. A minimum of 7 years in public accounting or equivalent in industry (such as Accounting Manager) of which two years shall be within the previous five years. One year (2000 hours) of related experience in the appropriate field may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the occupational field within the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master's Degree in Accounting, MBA with Accounting or Finance Concentration or Education.
2. Teaching experience within higher education, utilizing traditional, accelerated, hybrid and/or online delivery.
3. CPA or CMA designation preferred.

 

Supplemental Information

The Accounting Instructor supports the School of Business and is available on/or before July 1st, 2024.

This position requires Wisconsin residence.

Hours
This is a full-time instructor position on a flexible year-round calendar. Teaching assignments include variable hours, including days, evenings, and/or weekends.

Hiring will be delayed as this position has a start date of July 1st, 2024.

Candidates may be invited to participate in a pre-screening interview before the closing date. Formal interviews will be invited to an interview on April 30, 2024. Interviews will be held on our Pewaukee campus. Final candidates will be invited to provide a teaching demonstration and interview on May 17, 2024.
