Financial Coordinator
Job Description
FINANCIAL COORDINATOR, Mathematics Department, to coordinate financial activities for sponsored programs and gifts with annual expenses of ~$30M; perform diverse financial duties including preparing, reviewing, and submitting proposals and budgets; reconciling and auditing monthly accounts; and preparing and analyzing financial reports for multiple accounts or projects; advise Principal Investigators, faculty, researchers, and staff on research administration matters; escalate complex financial issues; coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of budgets and grant proposals; assist with proposal development and submissions in accordance with MIT/sponsor/donor policies; track and monitor the financial performance of grants and contracts for compliance; create, implement, and maintain financial systems for budget and proposal tracking; assist with forecasting account balances; approve travel reports and purchasing requisitions; verify procurement card expenses and requests for payments; monitor financial and research accounts, ensuring timely payment of invoices, account setups, extensions, and closeouts.
Job Requirements:
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of relevant financial management experience; knowledge of federal research regulations; experience in academic programs and administration; diligence, excellent organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills; demonstrated sound judgment and ability to meet short deadlines; service-oriented, multitasker who excels in team settings; proficiency in financial systems, sponsored accounting, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
