Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounting and Reporting, the Supervisory Senior Accountant supports the Accounting Services group by providing essential accounting and reporting functions and by ensuring financial controls are in place and reports are accurate and compliant with required accounting standards, rules, and regulations.
This position may require some evening and weekend hours.
Essential Functions
- Accounts, reconciles, and reports on debt service activities, investments, leases, plant assets, and bank activities, including timely and accurate record keeping.
- Analyzes and reconciles monthly statements, maintains the general ledger, and resolves discrepancies utilizing a solution-based approach.
- Maintains and reconciles accounting records, which includes processing accounting transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, reconciling to various sub-ledgers and other source documentation, and closing accounting records.
- Prepares and presents ad-hoc analysis of financially related subjects and reconciliations of financial transactions using queries and reports.
- Produces clear, accurate, and well-organized documentation to support work performed.
- Maintains proper internal controls to achieve safeguard of University assets, ensuringreliability and integrity of financial information in accordance with best practices.
- Prepares complex internal and external monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with accuracy on a timely basis, ensuring quality accounting and best practices are followed.
- Prepares footnote disclosures and supporting work papers for the University’s financial statements and related fiscal year audit, ensuring compliance with generally accepted U.S. accounting principles.

- Participates and leads training sessions to educate the University community in using proper accounting procedures, processing transactions, and automated systems.
- Supports the development and enhancement of systems, processes, reports, and data analysis.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
- Quantitative financial analysis skills to develop data queries and complete data warehouse extractions.
- Excellent MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, pivot, adapt, and be receptive to new ideas.
- Organization, planning, and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize work.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CPA track and/or public accounting experience.
- Experience performing audit and tax work with a public accounting firm.
- Experience with financial systems such as Banner, TM1, Business Intelligence Analytics, Lease Query, and Hyland.
- Supervisory experience.
Minimum Starting Salary: $91,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $96,000
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
