Job Summary:
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) supports the Executive Director of Human Resources in key HR functions, including Employee Relations, performance management, leadership training, accommodations, and leaves of absences. The position formulates partnerships across the organization to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the college.

Essential Tasks

Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the Executive Director of Human Resources to manage and resolve employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary actions, while ensuring a fair and inclusive work environment;
  • Advise supervisors on performance management, including goal-setting, performance evaluations, conducting evaluations, and addressing performance - related challenges;
  • Manage the process for ADA accommodations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and coordinating accommodations to support employee success;
  • Oversee Leave of absence programs, including FMLA, ensuring accurate tracking, compliance, and communications with employee and supervisors;
  • Collaborate with HR leadership to develop and implement HR policies and procedures that align with institutional goals and regulatory requirements;
  • Lead the development and implementation of training programs for staff, focusing on leadership development, employee engagement, and HR compliance;
  • Serve as an HR advisor, providing expert guidance on HR policies and practices to both managers and employees, promoting a positive and productive work environment;
  • Ensure that all HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as collective bargaining agreements;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism;
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work at a desk for several hours per day;
  • Ability to travel across campus or between different locations if needed.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience resolving employee relations issues; AND
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including, employee relations, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is a plus but not required;
  • HR Certifications are a plus but not required.
