Scope of Position

EDF Renewables North America is a market-leading independent power producer and service provider with over 35 years of experience. We deliver grid-scale power: wind (onshore and offshore), solar photovoltaic, and storage projects; distribution-scale power: solar and storage; asset optimization: technical, operational, and commercial expertise to maximize the performance of generating projects, and onsite solutions, through the Company's PowerFlex affiliate, offering a full suite of onsite energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers: solar, storage, EV charging, energy management systems, and microgrids.

The intention is for this role to be Hybrid and based out of our Houston, TX office.

The Associate Director - Development ("AD") is focused on growth and development of direct reports and building a successful business at a regional market level. The AD will coordinate with the regional Director(s), VP and OPM team to set specific short, medium, and long-term goals for the submarket and will manage internal and external resources to achieve those goals. The AD will be responsible for the direct supervision of Project Developers and/or Project Development Managers and will be responsible for assessing their skills and development needs and providing opportunities for growth and development to those individuals.

The Senior Manager - will support regional leadership in the establishment of regional development strategy and new business development initiatives.

Responsibilities

Internal Development-Related Duties:

    Manage the late-stage development of priority projects including overseeing the creation of schedules, budgets and a coordinated development plan to achieve project/regional goals
  • Engage with Land & Community Engagement in the design and implementation of land acquisition and community engagement and permitting campaigns
  • Engage with internal subject matter experts to understand activities and timeframes required to meet project schedule
  • Obtain approvals at key project commitment and milestone points and clearly and effectively elevate issues to regional leadership as necessary

External Development-Related Duties:

  • Build relationships with key local stakeholders to ensure successful development
  • Understand the timing and requirement of applicable permits and create and implement plans to obtain
  • Manage, Coordinate and deploy 3rd party contractors for permitting and site related studies
  • Leverage opportunities at industry tradeshows, conferences, and landowner and government meetings on behalf of EDFR to strengthen and capitalize on relationships with potential customers, financial and investment partners, and utilities

Functional Management and Leadership Duties:

  • Provide direction and leadership to up to 2 direct reports
  • Assess strengths, areas for development and professional goals for direct reports and collaborate on career development plans
  • Lead resource allocation planning to achieve regional goals
  • Serve as a Mentor to junior team members

Market Analysis and Long-Range Planning Duties:

  • Understand the key market drivers, constraints and competition in a sub-regional market.
  • Lead sequencing and resourcing plans for portfolio of projects within the sub-region to achieve regional goals

Qualifications

The Associate Director requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a minimum of 5 years of handling project management energy-related projects, permitting or real estate experience.

Education/Experience - Bachelor's in Business, Economics, Environmental Studies, Energy or Engineering. Demonstrated experience relevant to project development activities. Masters degree in Business or related field preferred

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Strong organizational communication and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on large scale utility energy development projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of project development; awareness of potential issues and ability to elevate issues to regional director(s) / VP in a timely, solutions-oriented way.
  • Demonstrated personnel management skills

The Senior Manager typically requires a bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline required and a minimum of 9 years of directly related experience; MBA or related Masters' degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years' experience handling project management energy related projects and substantial supervisory experience required.

Physical Requirements - NA

Working Conditions - Approximately 50% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project, MS Teams, etc.), telephones and general office equipment. Approximately Up to 50% of the time is spent in the field meeting with project stakeholders, leading permitting activities, leading pre-capitalized project implementation, capitalized project implementation/ development as well as managing the assessment and pursuit of new business opportunities.
