Position Purpose

This position works on assignments of diverse scope and timelines supporting Field Operations. Works with all Business Units and Field Operations teams to build and support the roadmap to gap closure in addition to future capability needs that tie to business strategies. Also positioned as a strategic partner to IT representing Operations it isresponsible for providing guidance and assistance with all aspects of project planning and execution on projects that support the business growth and initiatives that apply new technology to the Field. Work in partnership with cross-functional leaders and outside consultants to review industry best practice and determine the solutions for PETCO that support the needs of the business long term. Identify retail process and systems gaps. Ensure proper business involvement on projects and that business requirements are clear and meet minimum standards for clarity and validation. Establish and document key metrics to ensure on-time delivery, conformance to requirements and scope, quality metrics are attained, and budget is met. Work in conjunction with Operations and cross functional team leadership to manage business case (costs, benefits, scope, and timelines) for systems and process development. Facilitate Training and Change plan with Project Leadership and sponsors. Collaborate in all project deliverables, UAT test cases and approval of go-live readiness. Drive the production of content to train the end-user (field partners) on all and enhanced IT projects and rollouts. Create reinforcement strategies and continuous support plans for new tools and programs launched.

Essential Job Functions

The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Manage cross-functionally with business leadership and Operations partners to assess and prioritize learning needs, processes and programs driven by business objectives.

  • Prepare designs and work specifications, develop schedules, budgets and forecasts; select materials, equipment, project staff, etc. Estimate costs, resources, and time required to complete. Monitor activities, allocate resources, and assign tasks to ensure targets are met. Liaise with other areas in the organization to secure specialized resources and contributions for the project.

  • Conduct project meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team to ensure alignment.

  • Responsible for training and process improvement initiatives to ensure that technology and store processes support a great customer experience and that capabilities of the new technology are fully leveraged.

  • Create Change management plan(s) with Retail Operations as well as Enterprise Learning and Development, that supports the Health and Wellness Company vision and becomes part of the PETCO culture.

  • Establish a project management strategy for developing and implementing field Operations based training/projects. Work with partners to gain stakeholder approval and support, as necessary. Provide verbal and written communications regarding project status, risks, issues, and makes recommendations for remediation or change.

  • Partner with Learning and Development to investigate the most effective learning methodologies and design and/or oversee the development of training solutions including elearning web technology, workshops, coaching, videos, job aids, workbooks.

  • Manage the delivery and implementation of all learning programs, including new store training, courses and/or solutions; build internal train-the-trainer infrastructure to support deployment as necessary.

  • Develop and implement best practices for project sustainability and provide evaluation summary reports. Produce timely and relevant completion and impact reports as required.

  • Act as SMEs/Reviewers for training being pushed to the field.

  • Partner with business leaders and Operations to ensure support of all projects/processes rolled out from Operations.

  • Maintain and continuously improve learning solutions.

  • Create reinforcement strategies and continuous support plans for new tools and programs launched.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to leaders as required.

  • Provide logistics and coordination for assigned programs.

  • Act as the voice of the business in capturing business requirements and championing them with the IT and Software providers; maintain scope to industry "best practice".

  • Communicate and create a change management plan when the process needs to be the solution.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned or required.

Nature of Supervision

Guidance is provided on overall direction. Tasks to be completed and new programs are created independently and with responsibility for content, implementation, and execution.

Supervisory Responsibility

Will oversee the work of external consultants and/or instructional designers as required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in applicable field with specialization in Instructional Design, Training, eLearning technology, blended learning, business management, or other related field of study. Requires at least five years of progressively responsible related work experience, including 3 years of responsibility for program development and management. Advanced skills in writing, communicating, learning, leadership development, organizational development, and instructional design, with retail experience preferred. Experience opening emerging markets a plus. Strong knowledge and experience in project methodology with proven experience in project leadership roles with well-developed experience executing projects small to moderate in size and complexity.

Work Environment.

The majority of job duties are performed while seated indoors with little or no exposure to hazards. Significant long periods of time may also be spent standing while delivering programs. Programs may be presented in retail stores, hotels and/or distribution centers where the use and/or movement of audio-visual equipment may be required. Travel; up to 40% of the time.

Contacts

This position requires frequent contact with field operations and corporate (NSC/SSC) staff to gather ideas, gets feedback and solicit input toward new or existing program development and assess implementation. Also requires regular, ongoing contact with the field, including hourly associates, store and territory staff and management, to determine training needs both on the Pet Care Center level and for other field support positions. In addition, independent contact outside the Company, with vendors and consultants, is required on a regular basis.

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

$101,900.00 - $152,800.00
