Job Description

This position is a contract position with the possibility of extension/career conversion.

This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite 3 days per week in La Jolla, CA and remote 2 days per week.

The incumbent will serve as a Business Intelligence Analyst within the VCHS BI team, with a primary focus on the development and maintenance of Tableau dashboards. This role is essential in supporting VCHS's commitment to data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include the creation and optimization of intuitive and interactive Tableau dashboards for enhanced data visualization and reporting. The analyst will be instrumental in gathering requirements for dashboards, understanding the underlying data, and ensuring that these tools effectively meet the needs of various stakeholders. This includes working closely with department teams to comprehend their data requirements, data structures, and reporting needs. The position also entails a significant focus on understanding and documenting business processes, data flows, and user requirements through collaborative workshops, interviews, and direct engagement with end-users and department leadership, thereby ensuring that the developed dashboards provide actionable insights and value to the organization.

Applies acquired skills and professional concepts to business analytics projects of small to medium size and intermediate scope and complexity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6 years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus 2 years of related experience/training.

  • Working knowledge of business intelligence functions and analytics.

  • Working knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools. Ability to produce reports and documentation. SQL Proficiency, Advanced visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, etc.

  • Experience in Python/R or similar scripting language for statistical analysis and data preparation

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-resolution skills.

  • Detail oriented, with demonstrated organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with professional and technical staff.

  • Ability to train staff at a variety of technical skill levels.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $67,200 - $119,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $32.18 - $57.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
