Georgia Highlands College is a multi-campus, state college member of the University System of Georgia. Founded in 1970 as Floyd Junior College, it now serves more than 6,000 students in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama across its five locations in Rome, Cartersville, Marietta, and Dallas. GHC currently offers over 30 areas of study with associate degree and bachelor’s degree options both in the classroom and online.

Job Summary


 

This position serves as the executive officer for the designated academic school and all divisions therein.

Responsibilities


 
  • Support and carry out the college¿s mission, values, and strategic priorities in compliance with the mandates and regulations of the University System of Georgia and all associated accrediting agencies
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of academic programs, services, and courses that meet the evolving needs of the student population and the workforce needs of the region
  • Facilitate continuous improvement in program development and teaching and learning through data-informed decision making
  • Advance the academic school¿s recruitment, retention, and graduation or transfer efforts
  • Conduct ongoing assessment and data-collection regarding instructional pathways and courses in accordance with system requirements and accreditors
  • Support faculty and staff in continuous improvement; recommend merit raises; engage with tenure and promotion processes as dictated by college policy
  • Supervise and mentor Division Chairs
  • Develop and administer the budget for the academic school; model effective use of resources; present on the financial outlook for the school at annual budget hearings
  • Pursue additional revenue streams through grants, partnerships, and other avenues of support
  • Seek out partnerships with schools at all age levels, both public and private, across the region
  • Advocate on behalf of GHC via Chamber of Commerce functions, economic development groups, regional councils, and appropriate industry opportunities
  • Initiate service and community development opportunities in accordance with the mission and values of the college
  • Collaborate with the USG system office, other USG institutions, and units of the college to support system-wide initiatives, priorities, and policies
  • Keep current with research, data, and trends related to the disciplines in the academic subject areas of the school
  • Serve on Committees of the College, Committees of the Faculty, or other projects as assigned
  • Regularly attend Deans Council
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


 
  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a master's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three (3) to five (5) years of related experience
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver¿s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

Proposed Salary


 

$85,000 - $90,000 annually
