Job Description

This full-time, tenure track faculty member is responsible for developing courses, writing lesson plans, and teaching college level courses in the approved curricula of the Business Studies Division. Assists with decisions regarding instructional materials, participates in division and college-wide discussions and meetings, curriculum development and assessment, assists Division with administrative and committee work, and fulfills other faculty responsibilities.

Duties:

  • Provides college level instruction in Business Administration and other courses, as needed.
  • Possesses the capability to deliver online and face-to-face lessons to students.
  • Develops curricula including revision of course syllabi, review and selection of textbooks/open education resources, program revision, and program and course articulation activities.
  • Provides student support by evaluating student progress and providing feedback, maintaining voice and email communication, referring students to appropriate support services, providing academic advice, maintaining office hours, maintaining appropriate academic and attendance records, and submitting final grades.
  • Participates in the activities associated with ACBSP accreditation.
  • Promotes and supports the value of diversity and cultural sensitivity in all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Communicates and collaborates professionally with Division colleagues regarding curricula, student assessment and learning outcomes, and other professional development activities.
  • Participates in a reasonable number of Division and College activities and committees, which may include the College Assembly, the Faculty Senate, search committees, Division committees, program assessment and review, student clubs and organizations, and College accreditation processes.
  • Maintains currency in content area, including the necessary technology for the College environment, and recommends curricular or technology modifications accordingly.
  • Maintains professional competence through participation in professional development activities.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in related field with eighteen (18) graduate semester hours, including courses in Business and Economics.
  • Minimum of 2 years of instruction in undergraduate coursework, specifically in Accounting, Economics, and Marketing.
  • Prior experience utilizing innovative teaching methods, incorporating the use of technology and online resource strategies.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with students, college staff, and the public.
  • Fairness and flexibility in understanding and working with a wide variety of students and assisting them with adjusting to the intellectual environment and requirements of a college academic community.
  • Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.
