Reporting to the Business Process Consultant Supervisor, the Business Process Consultant (BPC) will partner with members of the HR and ITS teams to understand how their administrative work might be improved through technology driven solutions.  You’ll use excellent partnership skills, strong critical thinking abilities, and a solid technical foundation. This is a collaborative position that works with people and teams at all levels in the University.  As part of the role, you will prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written and analyze and revise existing system logic and documentation.  You must operationalize processes in order for the HRIS Analysts to implement in day to day work.


Work with HR, Information and Technology Services (ITS) and other important partners e.g. Shared Services Center (SSC), Academic HR, Staff Labor Relations to understand goals and workflows for key areas while recommending improvements using our information technology products and services.

Participate in the development, documentation, customization, and configuration of solutions including planning ongoing support. To support these efforts, it is expected that the BPC will spend time engaging in direct (e.g., interviews, meetings) and indirect (e.g., surveys, forms) methods.

Develop exception and batch data load processing and auditing for Human Resource Management System (HRMS); analyze existing procedures and information requirements for computer applications.

Coordinate the resolution of problems and enhancements related to application or computer systems, prepare, implement programs and systems.

Prepare operations flowcharts, design reports and forms for data input and output.

Maintain working relationships with a variety of partners both internal to HR Records and Information Services (HRRIS) and within the University, such as ITS, SSC, Academic and Staff HR Labor Relations and others.

Required Qualifications*

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a business or science field or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with HRMS PeopleSoft software and proficiency with personal computer software
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service proficiency
  • Experience in PS Query and systems analysis or related data processing activities
  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office Suite desktop tools

Desired Qualifications*

  • Familiarity with higher education processes
  • Experience with ERP Cloud e.g. Oracle, Workday

Work Locations

This role may be hybrid but will require some onsite work due to the collaborative nature of the team. Flexible work agreements, reviewed annually, are subject to change dependent upon the needs of the unit.
