The Department of Environment, Health & Safety is seeking a Business Administrator to supervise the EH&S administrative team and oversee the daily operation of the department, to include human resource and financial management duties.


  • Administratively and functionally manage administrative staff activities and personnel in the department.
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director of EH&S.
  • Continuous process improvement- Creating/updating/training.  Makes suggestions and implement department wide changes.
  • Administer the safety shoe and eyeglass PPE programs - work with suppliers to address billing issues, resolve employee issues, and coordinate on site events for UM schools/colleges.
  • Oversee all department vehicle leases and coordinate replacement vehicles.
  • Review and identify gaps and improvements for internal control.
  • Oversee complex invoice payment process.  Process all AEC related invoices, route WO invoices, review all AEC journal entries to ensure accuracy.
  • Review travel requests; approve expense reports and other transactions on time and to standard.
  • Special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to handle frequent interruptions and continue to meet deadlines
  • Exceptional organization skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines and adapt as priorities shift
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative on projects and make decisions
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Exceptional work ethic

Desired Qualifications*

  • Familiarity with University policies and procedures, especially those related to Finance/Procurement.
