The Business Manager manages the research and financial activities at the Stamps School of Art & Design. This position would guide the daily operations of the Stamps School of Art & Design Finance Office, including management of 2.0 FTE accounting and administrative staff; develop budgetary controls, prepare financial reports, oversee account reconciliation and trouble-shooting; interpretation and communication of University and School policies; perform data analysis and reporting; and collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer, the Dean, and other senior leadership in the annual budget processes.
You will report to the Stamps Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Responsibilities*
- Advise and assist the CFO regarding fiscal issues for the School
- Participate in policy creation and revision at the School level; Implement University-wide policy changes
- Establish financial controls for compliance and to maintain budget limitations.
- Be a resource for staff on financial policy and management.
- Oversee unit compliance with internal controls standards.
- Oversee set up, updating, and reconciliation of all fund accounts using databases, and another enterprise financial software
- Prepare (or oversee) and distribute monthly budget to actual reports, variance analysis, quarterly scholarship and awards reports, and other financial ad-hoc reports.
- Act as liaison with the UM Office of Financial Aid and the Stamps School.
- Coordinate the proposal submission process.
- Be a liaison with the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP)
- Provide faculty with financial reports tracking salary, miscellaneous expenditures and produce budget projection reports.
- Administer final project close out.
- Advise principal investigators on budget matters and on policy, process, and procedural issues.
- Participate in special projects and committees as assigned.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer in preparing the School's annual budget proposal
- Represent the Stamps School Finance Office on School committees.
- Represent the School on University-wide committees, such as the Small School and College Research Administrator Group (SSCRAG) and Research Administrators Network (RAN).
- Assist area managers with their budget status and with other faculty and staff of the Stamps School of Art & Design and other operations procedures and policies
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years professional experience in accounting and financial management including externally-sponsored contracts/grants.
- Experience managing collaborative projects
- Experience managing financial data within large enterprise financial and administrative systems
- Experience with Excel (can perform complex functions and maintain complex spreadsheets) and Business Objects
