Testing Specialist I

Job Description

 

Conducts and coordinates placement testing, instructional testing, and fee-based testing. Assists in planning and communicating placement policies for CCC students. This is a part-time position in the Learning Services department, reporting to the Senior Manager of Library and Instructional Support.


This position will be 25 hours per week until May 15, 2023 and starting May 16, 2023, it will switch to 19 hours per week.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Facilitates and proctors exams according to the college’s needs, including placement tests, make-up exams, exams for online courses, industry certification exams, etc.
  • Assures that the quality of fee-based testing programs is maintained including exam security, integrity, and confidentiality. Upholds the policies of the department, the National College Testing Association (NCTA), and proctoring agreements and instructions from other companies or educational institutions that CCC may serve.
  • Responds to testing-related needs and queries from students, faculty, and staff. 
  • Compiles testing data for reporting purposes, strategic planning, etc., and completes corresponding reports in a timely manner. 
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of records and complies with test-specific security standards.
  • Works collaboratively with others.
  • Actively supports a positive environment for students and staff. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

Knowledge of testing standards, principles, and assessment practices in higher education. Ability to maintain confidential records. Skill in oral, written, and interpersonal communication. Accurate, detail oriented, and comfortable with technology. Ability to respond proactively and positively in stressful situations.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Associate’s Degree and one year of directly related experience in student services, learning support programs, advising, or related field in a higher education setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job and/or as approved by the Human Resources Department.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a community college. Experience with testing software and record-keeping. Demonstrated proficiency with technology. Bilingual a plus.
