Earthworm Foundation is an international dynamic non-profit organization which helps companies transform their supply chains across the world for the benefit of people and nature.

Earthworm Foundation is seeking a motivated Agriculture Project Officer, US and Canada working remotely and based in the continental United States with experience in agriculture and food systems (US and Canada focus preferred), interest in sustainability, excellent communication and writing skills; who is passionate about working with Companies, Farmers, Government, Civil Society, and Donors to generate positive sustainability impacts; and who is interested in a career with a dynamic non-profit that builds relationships with diverse actors to bring responsible products to market.

Working closely with the US and Canada Agriculture Program Manager (“Program Manager”) and other Earthworm Foundation teams, the Agriculture Project Officer (“Project Officer”) will support delivery of US and Canada based projects on sustainable and regenerative agriculture for a range of Earthworm Foundation member and client companies. The Project Officer will work on supply chain projects and tasks specified in Earthworm Foundation client workplans. This includes conducting supply chain analysis, supporting supplier engagement, collating technical research and reports, and coordinating traceability exercises. The Project Officer will monitor progress of client workplan deliverables and budgets, while supporting the Program Manager with the preparation of reports and communication materials.

Your job :

  • Providing operational support for the Agriculture Program Manager
  • Conducting supply chain analyses
  • Interpreting and analysing technical research and reports
  • Supporting engagement with suppliers and producers
  • Coordinating commodity traceability exercises
  • Monitoring progress on deliverables and budgets
  • Supporting the development of proposals, reports and technical communications for both internal and external audiences
  • Participating in global thematic working groups
  • Identifying new companies or commodities for business development opportunities

Your profile:

  • University degree or higher in agriculture, geography, sustainability, business management, the environment, sociology/anthropology, international development, or a related field OR relevant professional experience
  • Collaborative team player
  • Excellent research and writing capabilities
  • Self-starter who can thrive in a dynamic work environment
  • Strong organisational skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple interrelated tasks
  • Knowledge of raw material sourcing and/or agricultural commodities
  • Good understanding of environmental and social issues in agriculture and supply chains
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable working with complex data
Desirable qualifications (both lived and work experience valuable) :
  • Experience working with farmers on regenerative/sustainable agriculture techniques
  • Agronomy training and/or experience
  • Experience in farm management
  • Experience working with agriculture-related software systems
  • Experience working in US companies on responsible sourcing
  • Knowledge of raw material, food product, and agriculture certification programs
  • Experience in business development
  • Experience in Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
  • Experience working with diverse food systems
  • Experience working with GIS

Language skills:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Additional language proficiency a plus, preferably Spanish or French

Working conditions / Physical effort

  • Based in the United States and working remotely
  • Occasional travel in the US, and potentially Canada
  • Scheduling flexibility required to accommodate calls and meetings across global time zones

Other information

  • Part time (60-80% FTE)
  • Immediate start
  • Valid US work authorization required

Compensation & Benefits

  • $30,000-$56,000 annually, depending on experience
  • 25 days paid leave per year, pro-rated
  • 11 paid public holidays
