Business Systems Analyst

Job Description

BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST, Human Resources (HR), to assume responsibility for business analysis, reporting, user support, data maintenance, and testing for web-based HR systems. Responsibilities include learning HR’s functional areas’ business policies, procedures, systems, and requirements for compliance with government regulations; gathering requirements from business owners; reviewing system functionality, configuration, reporting, and authorizations to ensure business requirements are met; determining and communicating the implications of proposed system/process changes; participating in system enhancements and implementations; liaising with the system vendor and/or MIT IS&T regarding system support, troubleshooting, and enhancements; collaborating on understanding the interactions between web-based HR systems, MIT’s ERP system, and the MIT Data Warehouse; working with business owners on system changes, identify test scenarios, writing test scripts, carrying out tests, and ensuring results align with business requirements; maintaining data integrity; running and distributing reports; developing and delivering user training and documentation; and performing other duties as assigned.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in related field; five years’ relevant experience; excellent customer service and communication skills; attention to detail, accuracy, and safeguarding confidential data; and experience using reporting tools and providing data analysis, working in teams, and leading small projects.  Seek a self-starter who can troubleshoot issues, interpret business requirements, make recommendations, and translate into potential solutions; develop testing plans, coordinate and conduct testing for system support and enhancements, and validate results against business requirements; quickly learn new technologies and business processes; and balance independent work with collaborative, deadline-driven, project/enhancement work.  PREFERRED:  experience with a variety of technical applications, including proficiency with ERP systems, preferably SAP; experience with HR administrative systems; and experience in higher education or large nonprofits.  Job #22463-9
