Reporting to the Director of Research Administration of the department, the HR Specialist will maintain all records for salary distribution changes, summer salary, TEARS and Effort certification. Manages current database to monitor PI effort (both paid and documented through the TEARS system). Maintain records for Graduate Research Assistants paid on departmental sponsored research projects. The Specialist must be able to interpret agency and university requirements, policies, and practices.
Responsible for ensuring compliance, identifying, tracking, and reporting cost sharing to Contracts and Grants and ECE Departmental Personnel. Initiate salary redistributions and associated over 90-day justifications. Organize, track, and confirm the summer salary payment process. Responsible for the Time and Effort Reporting (TEARS) actions of cost share set-ups, confirmations, annual and summer certification. This includes working with faculty/staff to ensure their effort reports are correct. Track completion of Conflict of Interest records and track RCRs (Responsible Code of Research). The position is responsible for the management of other financial/administrative support duties as assigned by the Director of Research Administration
