The Business Analyst II will work from within the DFCI Belfer Office for Dana-Farber Innovations (BODFI) and be the owner of Minuet, an agreement, finance and IP database. In addition to the needs of BODFI, the Business Analyst II will also support other stakeholders at Dana-Farber that use, input and access data from Minuet, including Office of General Counsel. The Business Analyst II will be a highly organized individual with project management experience enabling them to train and interface with users of Minuet, engage with Inteum (the vendor for Minuet) when needed, and to proactively maintain and monitor Minuet needs overall at Dana-Farber.
Responsibilities
Project Management:
Act as the internal liaison between Innovation and other DFCI stakeholders to:
- Identify operational issues such as delays in workflows, improvements in information access among departments etc.
- Provide a high-level of customer support to Innovation and other DFCI stakeholders (including the Office of General Counsel) by either resolving issues or facilitating connection, identification and procurement of appropriate resources.
- Work closely with Innovation and other department team members to define business needs, define project approach, develop alternative solutions (automated and manual), and provide appropriate feedback to meet both system and operational objectives.
- Collaborate closely with Information Systems (IS) and Research Informatics (RIO) team members as appropriate to determine strategic system solutions for PeopleSoft system to meet business needs.
- Assist with business requirements gathering, workflow analysis, definition and documentation of system requirements for the Innovation and other DFCI departments.
- Maintains and monitors Minuet needs backlog.
- Assist with the design and implementation of system and workflow solutions to address backlog.
- Develop project and system documentation throughout the course of daily activities and projects.
- Manage all aspects of the project: team communications, timelines, signoffs, scope changes, etc.
- Adhere to recognized project management tools and methodologies.
- Schedule and run meetings, report progress, track and route issues.
Act as external liaison between DFCI and Vendor
- Serve as an exemplary representative of Innovation and OGC.
- Manage vendor relationship with vendor (Inteum) and maintain a positive collaboration with the vendor
- Represents Innovation and discusses product needs with the vendor; arrange training sessions with the vendor.
Product Ownership:
- Primary owner of Minuet
- Troubleshoot and work with the IS and RIO team to support the interfaces between Minuet, and other DFCI systems (e.g. PeopleSoft).
- Learn and utilize reporting tools to provide ad-hoc or dashboard reporting.
- Diagnose and escalate issues with databases and web servers via the appropriate error reporting venues for the various systems utilized by Innovation and OGC.
- Monitor daily new incoming IS tickets specific to Minuet. Triage, track and address ticket requests.
- Utilize Dana-Farber Cancer Institute values to govern decisions, actions and behaviors.
Training & Development:
- Create training materials with assistance and execute training for users on appropriate applications.
- Provide education on system workflows and functionality.
- Learn and utilize new products and tools, as appropriate, to successfully complete work assignments.
- Actively participate in and support team culture.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science, Basic Sciences or other relevant healthcare or life sciences required. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements.
- 5+ years of direct analytical work experience in a customer facing role in an academic and/or healthcare environment
- Clinical research experience/clinical trials management a plus
- Understand basic requirements involved in human subjects research a plus
- Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams of 5 or more indirect resources (clinical, technical, administrative), including directing the work of user and business representatives within workgroups.
- Strong project management skills; formal business analyst training a plus
- Experience with successful implementation of enterprise applications
- Proficient in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

- Excellent communication skills - both oral and written. Must be able to negotiate and communicate with all levels of staff.
- Excellent organizational and analytic skills, with the proven ability to multi-task, troubleshoot, and prioritize work.
