Job Description
The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences is seeking a motivated and experienced individual for the role of Business Operations Specialist, Sr. The primary responsibilities of this position are largely accounting related in the account management for our sponsored projects and the post award support of our research investigators, as well serving as liaison across campus between colleges, schools, departments and research investigators in their interactions with the Office of Research and Sponsored Project Administration (ORSPA).

Essential Duties
- Administrative post award accounting management, including: expense approvals, processing and transfers; account reporting, monitoring and reconciling; travel processing; effort reporting; account close out.
- Acts as primary resource to research investigators and business staff on sponsor policies and regulations regarding the administration of award funds; monitor compliance issues and assist in resolution.
- Works in conjunction with ORSPA and ASU research investigators to ensure timely and accurate post-award accounting of grants and contracts; review reconciliation of accounts for compliance of charges in accordance with sponsoring agency/contract conditions and requirements.
- Manages awarded projects in accordance with University and sponsor regulations; prepares accounting reports for the ASU research investigators including: detailed cost and financial analysis, and provides financial tracking and fiscal control to fulfill reporting requirements.
- Maintains all applicable project records and files.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related experience; OR, Nine (9) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (25).
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
Department Statement
The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (SoMSS) at ASU is currently home to about 60 tenured or tenure-track faculty members, 60 instructional faculty, 5 postdoctoral associates, 190 graduate students, 750 undergraduate student majors, and 20 staff members. The School teaches courses to over 20,000 undergraduate students each academic year. SoMSS recently started a new undergraduate degree program in data science. The School also offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral programs in applied mathematics, mathematics, statistics, and mathematics education, as well as undergraduate and masters programs in actuarial science. SoMSS has a strong interdisciplinary research profile that includes numerous collaborations inside and outside the university, such as in the biological, environmental, medical, physical and social sciences, education, and multiple areas of engineering.
