Job Summary


The Senior Director of Employer Relations is responsible for leading and managing a high performing and agile team which engages employers on behalf of Chicago Booth full-time, evening, weekend programs and alumni based in the Americas. As a hands-on leader, the senior director will play a key role in setting the strategy for building the Booth brand with employers seeking business talent and work closely within the Career Services leadership team and across Booth to enhance the value proposition to students and alumni.

 
Responsibilities
  • Leads, manages, and develops a team of 6-8 staff members of the Employer Relations team responsible for maintaining existing relationships with employers and forging new relationships for Booth students and alumni.
  • Guides the strategic direction of the team, including industry and functional priorities, through analyses of markets and trends, student interest and needs, and other internal and external sources.
  • Regularly solicits and analyzes student, recruiter, and alumni feedback and engages within Career Services and across Booth to create solutions to improve stakeholder experiences.
  • Oversees processes to source and promote job opportunities for students including main Booth job board; benchmarks peers institutions and investigates channels to expand Booth student and alumni access to appropriate opportunities.
  • Develops just-in-time tactics to support students during unexpected market changes which impact availability of opportunities, e.g., resume referrals, sourcing opportunities, when students face rescinded offers, late start dates, etc.
  • Refines communications and marketing approach, to increase awareness of employer engagement activity and support for specialized search students, those who seek less traditional career paths.
  • Leads cooperation with other Booth departments including Student Life, Alumni Relations, Admissions, Faculty Centers, Global Career & Leadership Development, DEI and careers teams within the University of Chicago ecosystem including the College, graduate programs, and professional schools.
  • Represents Chicago Booth Employer Relations through formal presentations, Q&A sessions, panels, and employer, student, and alumni-facing programs, and external or industry events.
  • Participates in Career Services team leadership. Works closely with Director, Career Management for Full-Time Programs, Director, Career Management for Evening and Weekend Programs, Senior Director, Career Services Operations to drive employer knowledge sharing, ensure smooth operation of student programs and recruiting events, and prioritize special initiatives.
  • Supports broader strategic initiatives across Booth, including engaging employers on potential growth areas.
  • Partners with industry, regional, and/or functional student and alumni groups to assist in employer outreach; drives coordination across programs and groups as necessary.
  • Manages Employer Relations annual budget and reporting, and develops key success measures.
  • Develops the strategic direction of employer relations efforts to determine industry and firm focus.
  • Oversees sponsorship of employer-focused conferences and events.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
